4.80ct Mintabie Opal Sterling Silver Statement Ring Size 6.75

A beautiful 4.80 carat solid Mintabie opal, handcrafted into a one of a kind sterling silver statement ring.

The natural Australian opal displays shifting flashes of orange, red, green, yellow and blue across a soft luminous base. Its colour changes beautifully as the ring moves and catches the light.

I created a smooth sterling silver bezel to frame and protect the opal, surrounded by a richly textured and oxidised silver border. The darkened texture provides a striking contrast against the polished silver and the opal’s vibrant colour.

A wide split band provides strength, comfort and balance while allowing the substantial setting to sit securely on the hand. Every part of this ring was individually handcrafted in my Pomona studio on the Sunshine Coast.

Mintabie opal is increasingly sought after, with commercial mining at the South Australian opal field having ceased. This is a truly individual piece for an Australian opal collector or anyone who loves jewellery with character.
