Handmade Malachite Ring with Vintage Industria .900 Silver Spoon Band

This one of a kind Malachite statement ring combines a striking natural gemstone with a genuine piece of vintage silverware.

The ring began as a decorative vintage teaspoon marked INDUSTRIA 900. The original spoon weighed 16.50 grams and was made from .900 silver, meaning it contains 90 percent pure silver.

I cut and reshaped the ornate spoon handle to create the ring band, carefully retaining the beautiful raised scroll and floral details from the original design. Rather than hiding its previous life, these vintage details remain visible along the shoulders of the ring and form an important part of its character.

The 32.70 carat natural Malachite features vivid green colouring, distinctive curved banding and a beautifully polished high dome. I set the stone in a handcrafted sterling silver spider web gallery bezel, mounted onto a large textured sterling silver backplate.

The backplate was individually textured by hand, giving the ring an organic finish that complements both the bold Malachite and the decorative vintage spoon band.

The original teaspoon weighed 16.50 grams. After transforming the handle and adding the sterling silver backplate, gallery bezel, solder and Malachite, the completed ring weighs 16.76 grams.

This is not simply a ring made to resemble vintage jewellery. It is a genuine piece of vintage .900 silverware that has been carefully transformed into a wearable, one of a kind work of art.

Natural variations and small signs of its previous life remain within the vintage silver and are part of the history and individuality of the piece.
