This beautiful Queensland Boulder Opal split specimen comes from my personal collection and reveals a stunning natural crystal opal seam within the ironstone.
Weighing 188 carats (38 grams), the exposed split face displays vibrant flashes of blue, green, aqua, yellow, orange and occasional red. The remaining surfaces retain their natural ironstone character, allowing you to appreciate how Australian boulder opal forms within the host rock.
This piece has not been polished. The colourful face is the natural split surface created when the ironstone separated along the opal seam, revealing the remarkable colours hidden inside.
Whether displayed as part of an Australian opal collection, admired as a natural mineral specimen or purchased by a lapidary for inspiration, this is a one of a kind Queensland treasure.
