A forgotten vintage napkin ring, a rescued turquoise and a little experimentation at the jewellery bench came together to create this completely one of a kind statement cuff.

The cuff began life as a vintage Pitcher EPNS A1 napkin ring. I opened and flattened the original ring before running it through my rolling mill with a floral texture plate, transforming the plain metal into the beautifully detailed wide cuff you see today.

At its centre is an incredible 60.50ct turquoise cabochon with vivid blue and green tones flowing through a rich natural brown matrix. The stone is believed to possibly be Royston turquoise, although its exact mine origin cannot be confirmed.

The turquoise has its own second life story. I originally purchased it in Noosa as part of a damaged vintage turquoise pendant. I removed the damaged section, reshaped and repolished the stone, then kept it until the right project came along.

The turquoise is mounted on a handcrafted textured copper base and surrounded by a substantial double bezel handcrafted in sterling silver.

The finished cuff weighs approximately 52g, giving it a wonderfully solid feel and making it a true statement piece.

The story behind the cuff

This piece began with a vintage Pitcher EPNS A1 napkin ring that had been sitting in my studio waiting for an idea. I opened and flattened the napkin ring, then ran the metal through my rolling mill with a floral texture plate. The result was so beautiful that I formed the newly textured metal into the wide cuff you see today.

The photographs included in this listing show part of that transformation at my jewellery bench.
