Handcrafted Bacon Opal & Turquoise Crescent Moon Sterling Silver Pendan

Inspired by the moon rising over the ocean, this one of a kind handcrafted pendant features a stunning 42.75ct Bacon Opal cabochon with turquoise inlay, expertly cut by lapidary artist Tim Barney in the USA.

I designed and handcrafted the sterling silver setting in my Noosa Hinterland studio, carefully fabricating and soldering each decorative flame by hand to frame the crescent moon. Every element was individually positioned before the stone was finally set, making this one of my most rewarding pieces to create.

The reverse tells its own story. The ocean inspired textured back plate began life as a vintage sterling silver fork. Before it could become part of this pendant, the silver was repeatedly annealed, cleaned, cooled and passed through the rolling mill until it reached the perfect thickness. Rather than allowing this beautiful antique silver to sit unused, it has been given a new purpose as part of a contemporary heirloom. The tines from the same fork were transformed into bangles, ensuring every part of the original piece found a new life.

Suspended from a beautiful 50cm Made in Italy 925 sterling silver belcher chain, this pendant brings together exceptional lapidary artistry, recycled vintage sterling silver and traditional silversmithing techniques to create a truly one of a kind piece.
